Many auto manufacturers already include ESP inthe design of the cars they produce. This technology has not yet found its place in the basic configuration of each individual model. For now, ESP is just an additional feature that reduces the risk of an accident by as much as 30 percent. Today, we will deal with this concept.
What is ESP?
ESP (Electronic Stability Control) is a systemcourse stability of the car. The presence of such a system in your car significantly reduces the risk of becoming a participant in a serious accident, and therefore, saves your life. Also ESP is called a stabilization system. There is a special control unit that monitors the operation of this system. Sensors installed in different parts of the car track the direction of movement of the machine body. Their data mainly depends on the position of the steering wheel and the accelerator pedal. Also, the control center receives information about lateral acceleration and skid characteristics.
At a time when the road is shaping upa situation in which the driver can no longer control the car, the ESP system comes into operation immediately. The system itself recognizes a dangerous situation. ESP adjusts the course of the car. How does this happen? The system turns on the wheel brakes in turn, depending on the situation. Or both wheels on the sides of the car, or one by one the front or rear wheel. In this case, the system itself decides whether to brake a wheel based on objective data from the sensors. In the most extreme case, the ESP system interrupts the fuel supply to the engine, that is, "strangles" it, stopping the car. All this complicated process is happening imperceptibly and quickly. The main role in it belongs to the interaction of the ESP control unit and ABS anti-lock braking system.
Thus, ESP is a software addition tosystem ABS. By itself, the ESP system will be useless. Therefore, if you are planning to purchase and install an ESP, then you need to make sure that you have ABS on your car.
It turns out that the cost of ESP technology is notis very high. But, at the moment, many motorists are forced to overpay a lot of money for installing this option, which can save lives in a critical situation. On the part of car manufacturers - it's at least blasphemy.
In February 2009, newstandards for crash tests of cars. Now, the Euro NCAP system includes a new criterion in its tests. This is the presence of an ESP traffic stabilization system. This is due to the fact that until 2009, almost all cars scored the maximum score according to the results of crash tests. In order for auto manufacturers to provide their customers with more security, it was decided to tighten inspections. This is a very correct position, as we believe. After all, there is no better desire than the desire to save lives and ensure maximum security.
Many drivers who happened to experience ESP onroad, said they would never buy a car without an ESP system. Many auto manufacturers for a long time offered ESP only as an option, but at the moment, most "civilized" cars have a stabilization system in their basic configuration. Many drivers call ESP an electronic guardian angel.
You should never save yourself and yourselftheir loved ones. Thinking about buying a new car, be sure to ask if the ESP system is installed on it. If not, then it is better not to buy such a car. The life and health of your loved ones depends also on you. While driving, remember, you are responsible for the lives of your passengers.
