How does the pregnancy begin?

The egg cell, after it has been fertilized, reaches the uterine cavity in approximately four days. If a woman is physically healthy, and the process of starting a pregnancy is normal, then at the end of the first week the first symptoms of pregnancy can already be felt. Sometimes, women who are especially sensitive to their physiology may feel signs of pregnancy already on the second day after fertilization, although, in general, there are not so many signs of the onset of pregnancy. Some women of pregnancy will not feel even before the onset of the three-month period.

Symptoms of early pregnancy

  • The first sign that a woman is “in position” is, of course, nausea. It is also called early-nausea, toxicosis (early toxicosis). Often begins pregnancy with this symptom. Early toxicosis is usually observed in the morning, but sometimes nausea can occur at any time of the day (especially after or during meals). These symptoms of pregnancy appear after the first month, and usually disappear in the third or fourth month.
  • The development of progesterone ("pregnancy hormone") will entail the cessation of menstruation - also one of the main symptoms of pregnancy.
  • There is also late toxicosis, but it is usually a sign of a disease. One of them may be kidney disease. Such toxicosis is quite dangerous to health.
  • Early toxicosis, especially if it is accompanied by pain, characterizes the presence of problems with the gastrointestinal tract. These can be diseases of the pancreas, liver or gastritis.
  • In the first trimester, the fetus is located in the pelvis, because of this the internal organs of the mother still do not feel its pressure. But at 16-18 weeks of development, the fetus begins to slowly rise up, increasingly putting pressure on the internal organs of the woman.
  • Some organs immediately begin to "feel" the impact. For example, the bladder, which is located under the uterus. Because of this, women begin to feel the urge to urinate significantly more often than before pregnancy. The situation may be aggravated by coughing, sneezing, or laughing.

Pain during pregnancy

  • Pain in the beginning of pregnancy occurs even with its normal course. For example, pulling pain in the abdomen in the first trimester occurs under the influence of physiological changes occurring in the body of the future mother. As the volume of the abdomen increases, due to the action of hormones, the ligaments soften and the location of the internal organs changes in the abdominal cavity.
  • Also, the discomfort in the abdomen in the first few months of pregnancy may be experienced by women who also had menstruation before pregnancy.
  • There may still be a feeling of heaviness in the left side. This is because the growing uterus gradually shifts towards the intestines (usually to the left). With the increase in gestational age the shift will continue. Because of this, food will move unevenly through the intestines. Hormones, on the other hand, will have a relaxing effect on the muscles of the intestine, which can cause peristalsis. As a result, food stagnation will form in different parts of the intestines.
  • There may be pain in the right side. This is due to changes in the activity of the gallbladder. Due to the action of hormones, bile formation will increase. Under the weight of the growing uterus, the gallbladder changes its position, which can also complicate the outflow of bile. This action is enhanced by the end of pregnancy - by the last trimester.
  • The onset of pregnancy also marks the appearance of cramps. This is due to the fact that at 7-9 weeks the fetus begins to move in the uterus, but because of the small weight and size, up to 16-20 weeks, these movements will be felt by the mother as convulsions. Seizures usually occur immediately after eating. Seizures increase if the expectant mother eats something with a high content of glucose. During the last trimester, implicit slight cramps usually cause fetal hiccup.

External changes during pregnancy

  • Medical indicators of the internal state of the future mother - pulse, pressure, blood composition, in the initial stages of pregnancy remain similar to the state before pregnancy. The appearance of a woman, that is, a change in the condition of hair, skin, complexion, will occur under the influence of hormones only from the beginning of the second trimester.
  • The belly at the beginning of pregnancy is practically not visible. If later the stomach is too big or too small, then it means nothing. The size of the abdomen of a pregnant woman depends on the individual characteristics of the structure of the body, on the position of the fetus inside the uterus, on the overall weight gain, on the volume of amniotic fluid and many other factors.Usually, low and slender women will have a stomach that is slightly larger in size than large and high ones. But on the size of the fetus, contrary to popular belief, the shape and size of the abdomen does not depend at all.
  • Nothing will respond to pregnancy like a breast. The beginning of pregnancy is accompanied by a breast filling, an increase in gland size, and an increase in sensitivity. Sometimes there may be pain. All these changes are normal and are part of an integrated process of preparing for future motherhood and breastfeeding. Usually during the second half of pregnancy, colostrum may even appear from the breast.
  • Also changes the appearance of the chest. The capillaries become more pronounced and noticeable, a network of blue lines is clearly visible. Also all the blood vessels that provide the breast glands with blood are becoming more visible. The halo, the circle around the nipple, becomes dark and increases in size, and spots sometimes appear on it. After birth, the dark circles will turn pale, but will not disappear completely.
  • Also during pregnancy on the halo usually sweat glands become visible, which will disappear after childbirth.
  • Virtually all changes occurring in the mammary glands are associated with the production of the hormone progesterone, also called the “pregnancy hormone”. A similar process in the production of progesterone occurs during menstruation - the chest is also poured and increases in size, there is a general feeling of heaviness. But during pregnancy, these symptoms worsen tenfold.

Now you know all about how a pregnancy begins. This will allow you to determine your interesting position at the earliest dates, which means that you will immediately start to take care of yourself. This will positively affect the health of your future baby! We wish you and your child good health!
