Classic we forgot

***
We talked with one old friend here and came to a banal and logical conclusion: Everything we read in school was very cool and then we did not understand one iota. A whole series of works of school literature and other works of the classics that were not included in it read in a completely different way after school, after receiving at least some minimal life experience.
A friend greatly admired Nabokov, and not the scandalous “Lolita”, but the stories and “The Protection of Luzhin”. Not really a school program, but still. I completely in a new way and with incredible pleasure after a decade after school, read Oblomov and Ordinary History by Goncharov. Discovered Leskov, who at school is perceived almost as a children's writer with his "Lefty", but "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk" .... Wow!
And what did you read after school from the classics, what made a completely different impression and what must be re-read? I am in search.
