The AG600 Jiaolong (“Water Dragon”) has a length of 39.3 m, a wingspan of 39 m and a declared maximum take-off weight of 53.5 tons (according to a number of Chinese sources - up to 60 tons), which, according to Chinese media, makes it the most the largest modern seaplane in the world (in comparison with the serially produced now ShinMaywa US-2, Be-200 and Bombardier CL-415, - the Soviet A-40 is already considered departed in the field of history).The AG600 has four WJ6 turboprop engines with a take-off capacity of 5,100 hp each. (A copy of the Soviet AI-20 engine, manufactured by the China National South Aviation Industry Company (CNSAIC) in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province) with six blades.
At present, it has been announced that two versions of the AG600 aircraft will be developed - search and rescue (capable of taking on board up to 50 people) and fire (taking 12 tons of water). In the future it is possible to create other modifications, including military ones. CAIGA announces the availability of 17 flight orders from Chinese customers.
The AG600 amphibious aircraft program was officially launched in 2009 (the aircraft designation JL-600, TA-600 or D-600 was originally used, the AG600 index has been used since 2014), although, for a number of sources, development was actually started back in 1980 years According to Chinese media, investment in the AG600 program since 2009 amounted to about 3 billion yuan. Initially, the date of the first flight of the first prototype was called 2013, but later it was repeatedly postponed.
For the construction of pilot and serial aircraft AG600 CAIGA and AVIC carried out a complete reconstruction of the enterprise ZYAC in Zhuhai. Nevertheless, this plant is still essentially an amphibious assembly site.For the prototype 001, the center section, the middle and front parts of the fuselage and the wing were manufactured by the AVIC Xi'an Aircraft Industry (Group) Company in Xi'an, the tail of the fuselage and the tail assembly was by the AVIC Hanzhong Aviation Industry Group Company in Hanzhong, and the nacelles were made by the Chinese company Flying North. This cooperation will continue in the future. In total, about 150 institutes and research centers and 70 industrial enterprises of the PRC are involved in the development and production of the AG600.
